New car?

Okay so I was so busy over spring beak and I totally spaced posting on my blog so I went back and watched a podcast from that week to report on now. Here it is...

Scientists at the University of Southern Mississippi developed a material that could possibly self heal scratches on cars when exposed to sunlight. So how does it work? When there is a scratch damaging a molecule, the octane ring opens. It has two reactive ends and when in sunlight cytosine breaks into two chains and generates free radicals. Then the cytosine links up with the reactive ends of octane and fill in the scratch. This is said to be more cost efficient for self healing. Interesting? I thought so...
